Let’s be real, who has never been sat 10 minutes before a deadline trying to put something together? We’ve ALL been there…

But nowadays, we’re trying to get it together and plan, plan, plan. At Monumental we plan EVERYTHING and content is no different. We have up to a month’s worth of content ready to go at any given point.

Let’s break it down:

Schedule it in

We are huge fans of time batching, if you’re not familiar with the concept, you need to get on that because it is a GAME CHANGER. Instead of jumping from one thing to another and then another with nothing in common, put aside an hour, a couple of hours, a full day to just focus on nothing but your content and JUST content.

Once you have the content prepped, you can schedule it. Either using google calendar, HootsuiteBuffer or just a simple spreadsheet. That way you can see it and you can stick to it.

But obviously, we want to keep as relevant as possible so we slot in a lot of things as ‘Hot Topics’ so we can put something together that is current and relevant. At which point we put aside an hour to do our research on something that is trending.

Limit or Not To Limit?

That is the question, but we’re here to answer it. We aren’t so niche because we pretty much talk all things digital marketing and PR and obviously we love to chat about our clients and of course everything we do. But if you are a blogger, a brand, a product, make sure your content is targeted to your audience.

In saying that, you have to listen to your audience. If they are showing greater response to something, consider focusing a bit more on that. Do some extra research on the topic so your readers know you are listening to them. Additionally, consider diversifying great performing content; can you make a visual infographic to ride the high? Would it work well in a podcast? Webinar?

Finding Inspiration

The way we go about getting inspired by posts changes all the time. We might see something we like and make it our own. We love a ‘top favourites’ moment as well. Our clients may have something exciting coming up and we want to write about it. There may be events coming up or that we have already attended that are worth mentioning. It’s constantly changing, but whatever we write, we want it to bring you value. It’s easy to write about anything, but the way you go about writing it is what counts.

Content creation can be difficult but following these tips will make sure it runs smoother. After all, who doesn’t love a couple of Monumental tips?
